TIMBER, CLADDING & LIGHT / IN ARCHITECTURE

BEYOND THE PATTERN

The same design.
A new expression.

A pale matte screen feels different from rich timber. A metallic face catches the light differently from frosted acrylic. Start with the atmosphere you want, then choose the material that belongs there.

Our core material families include cladding, foam board, wood, wooden panels and acrylic. The guide also explores specialist possibilities; exact grades, availability and fabrication are confirmed for each project.

Crisp. Architectural. Refined.

Aluminium composite cladding

A metal-faced composite sheet for a clean architectural expression. Solid colours and metallic finishes let the pattern take centre stage without losing the precision of its outline.

Architectural finishInterior / specified exteriorGrade selection matters
Imagine it in
Entrance features, façade accents, decorative screens and reception backdrops.
Our starting recommendation
Explore this when you want a crisp, contemporary finish. Specify the exact panel grade, core, coating and fixing system for its location; cladding is a category, not a single specification.

The detail to considerCut edges expose the composite core. Exterior and fire-performance requirements must be checked against the selected product and complete installation.

Warmth you can feel.

Solid wood

Natural grain gives every panel its own character. A carved or cut timber detail adds warmth to quiet interiors, from a statement headboard to a carefully framed room divider.

Natural grainInterior favouriteSpecies-dependent
Imagine it in
Bedroom back panels, feature walls, framed partitions and hospitality interiors.
Our starting recommendation
Consider solid wood when natural variation is part of the appeal. Discuss species, grain direction, seasoning and a pattern with enough material around the cut-outs.

The detail to considerWood moves as moisture changes. Allow for movement in the fixing design and agree a finish and maintenance plan suited to the space.

Light, layered elegance.

PVC foam board

A light, opaque sheet with a soft visual presence. Routed PVC foam can create pale screens, layered decoration and display features that let the shape do the talking.

Lightweight feelMatte possibilitiesSupported decoration
Imagine it in
Interior decorative screens, wall overlays, exhibition details and display panels.
Our starting recommendation
A starting point for lighter decorative installations. Confirm that the proposed foam board is a routable PVC grade; paper-faced craft foam is a different material.

The detail to considerChoose the density, thickness and support for the pattern. Outdoor use needs a specifically suitable grade; a decorative sheet is not a structural partition.

Acrylic sheets

Clear, frosted and coloured acrylic offers another way to work with light. Its reflective face and illuminated edges can give a decorative pattern a more contemporary character.

Imagine it in
Backlit features, decorative inserts, display pieces and interior screens.
Our starting recommendation
Explore frosted or translucent sheets for a luminous accent. Choose the sheet and lighting together, then review a sample to judge diffusion and the appearance of cut edges.

The detail to considerRouting and edge finishing depend on the acrylic grade. Allow for thermal movement, suitable fixings and a cleaning method recommended by the sheet supplier.

WOODEN PANELS & SPECIALIST POSSIBILITIES

More ways to
make it yours.

Explore different board constructions and specialist sheets. These are options to discuss, with availability, cutting method and suitability confirmed before quotation.

Wooden panel option

MDF

An even, paint-ready expression.

Where to consider it
Painted interior back panels, routed wall details and decorative overlays.
Before you choose
Ask about board grade and edge sealing. Standard MDF is for dry interiors; moisture-resistant does not mean waterproof.

Wooden panel option

Plywood

A layered edge with a natural face.

Where to consider it
Interior partitions, furniture inserts, retail displays and wall panels.
Before you choose
Specify face quality and core quality for visible cut-outs. Grade, adhesive bond and finishing must match any moisture exposure.

Wooden panel option

Veneered boards

Timber character across a composed surface.

Where to consider it
Office back walls, reception features and coordinated interior joinery.
Before you choose
Veneer is a facing over a board core. Confirm the substrate, grain layout and how exposed cut edges will be finished.

Compact laminate / HPL

A consistent face and crisp graphic detail.

Where to consider it
Commercial interior features and specified exterior decorative panels.
Before you choose
Use a self-supporting compact product where appropriate. Thin laminate needs a substrate; exterior use requires an exterior-rated grade and approved detailing.

Solid aluminium

A clean metal edge and architectural presence.

Where to consider it
Decorative screens, entrance accents and powder-coated compositions.
Before you choose
Different from composite cladding. Confirm alloy, thickness, cutting process, coating and fixings with the fabricator before specifying.

Steel & stainless steel

A bold, sharply defined silhouette.

Where to consider it
Framed screens, metal feature panels and bespoke architectural details.
Before you choose
Usually a specialist metal-cutting route. Mild steel needs corrosion protection; stainless grade, weight and supports still require project review.

HDPE & other rigid plastics

An opaque colour with a practical surface.

Where to consider it
Display elements, decorative inserts and selected functional panels.
Before you choose
Some rigid plastic sheets can be CNC routed. Confirm the exact polymer, UV grade, expansion allowance and finish compatibility; plastics are not interchangeable.

Brass & copper

Warm metallic character with an evolving patina.

Where to consider it
Small statement screens, feature inserts and premium decorative accents.
Before you choose
Discuss specialist cutting, sheet cost, weight and the desired patina or protective finish. A brass-look coating is a separate, alternative specification.

Panel studies use original Luxdeco catalogue patterns. Surface, edge depth and scale are illustrative; they are not material samples or fabrication specifications.

START WITH YOUR SPACE

A material that
belongs in the room.

These combinations are starting points for a design conversation. The setting, pattern and installation determine the final specification.

Bedroom with a warm feature wall behind the bed

A softer bedroom

Wood · veneered board · painted MDF

Start with warmth and a quiet finish. Consider a framed feature or wall-mounted composition, then agree the fixing and edge detail.

Office with a decorative back-wall setting

An office with character

Veneer · cladding · acrylic accents

Coordinate the panel with desks, lighting and the brand palette. A decorative screen alone does not establish acoustic performance.

Exterior with architectural decorative screens

A memorable entrance

Specified ACP · aluminium · exterior compact

Begin with exposure, wind, fixings and the exact exterior grade. The complete panel system needs review, especially for large cut-out areas.

MATERIAL ≠ FINISH

Choose the foundation.
Then the feeling.

Wood, acrylic and composite are materials. Paint, veneer, metallic coatings and stone-look surfaces are finishes or facings. A marble effect does not mean a panel is cut from marble, and a champagne finish does not specify solid brass.

Real stone, glass and unusual composites need a separate specialist assessment. Ask about the exact substrate and process rather than assuming every decorative sheet can be cut in the same way.

A MORE CONFIDENT CHOICE

Four things to bring
to the conversation.

01

The setting

Indoor or outdoor? Tell us about sun, moisture, nearby heat and how people will use the space.

02

The design

Bring a catalogue reference and approximate size. Fine details, unsupported spans and cut-out density affect the material choice.

03

The finish

Share your colour or texture direction. Review a physical sample and an edge detail before confirming production.

04

The installation

Discuss the frame, fixing surface, maintenance and budget. Overhead, façade and public-space work needs appropriate installation review.
